Thermal Induction Coils are large pieces of machinery used by ships.  They are designed to generate and contain enormous amounts of thermal energy, which is then channelled to the ship's engines. They are primarily used in faster-than-light travel.  In spite of this, velocities depend largely on the size and model of the coils.  At best, a single coil can generate enough energy to propell a ship at 8% the speed of light.
