Ionic Feed Dampeners are used primarily on large-scale weapons, such as those installed into space cruisers. Such weapons do not use bullets, which are rendered obsolete in space. Instead they fire tight beams of ionized particles.
Ion-based weapons typically generate immense amounts of exscess energy, and without Feed Dampeners would utterly melt the weapons.
Ionic Feed Dampeners function by chanelling the ions away from the weapon and into space. They are analogous to bullet cartridges, which function as heat sinks.
